WIS Leaders win South Island Award
Last term five students led the school in promoting fundraising to support countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. Working closely with World Vision, the team encouraged 40-Hour-Famine student fundraising, organised a school orange casual clothing day, and made and sold decorated orange cupcakes.
The students spoke at assemblies, wrote regular school messages, printed and displayed posters, and made cupcake order forms. They also helped manage the fundraising budget. Pictured from left to right: Kaylee Vorster, Tyree Clark, Pippa Baigent, Juliet Thompson-Blythe and Bonnie Hughes.
World Vision held regular Zoom meetings with the girls, discussing how their planning was going. World Vision staff members were particularly impressed that the girls followed through with all their ideas.
Thank you to WIS students and families for helping raise $5,212.31. Wow! Every dollar goes to help people in Sub-Saharan Africa.
At our first assembly this term World Vision presented the five girls with the South Island award: ‘Outstanding Student Leadership Team Award’. We are proud of the team for this incredible honour, and the school for their excellent fundraising efforts.
