Rockband

Sally Neal —

"Being part of the schools rock band is one of the highlights of Waimea Intermediate."

"Playing with others that are at my level is great because we can be more professional."

"Really looking forward to going up to Wellington at the end of the year and playing to other schools, it’s going to be wicked."

"Antoni is a great teacher he makes it fun but at the same time expects us all to play to the best of our ability which means we ALL have to practice."

"Being in the rock band is so much fun, so if you want to get in you need to practice, practice, practice."

"Auditions weren’t as scary as I thought they would be and I’m pleased I got in because I have learnt so much."

These are just a few comments from the students that are part of both rock bands here at Waimea Intermediate. After auditioning at the beginning of the year both bands were formed so each students talents and skills were utilised. Both bands get together once a week as part of the module program on a Friday.

Under the guidance of Antoni Neal, who has a strong focus on teamwork and commitment, students choose appropriate songs that they want to learn within a relaxed and fun environment.

This term the bands are working on getting as many songs together as they can as they will be performing not only at assemblies but also at the Stoke RockFest which will be a great rehearsal for their trip to Raroa Intermediate in November where they will be playing in front of 3 different schools.
