Nelson Surf Life Saving Club Open Day!

The Nelson Surf Life Saving Club is hosting its annual Open Day on Sunday, November 3rd, from 10am to 1pm! This event is for the whole family and promises to be more than just informative – it’s packed with FUN! Our friendly team will be available throughout the day to assist with membership inquiries, registrations, information on our Nippers/Junior Surf Program, Senior Surf Sports, lifeguard training, and other club opportunities. You can also purchase uniforms. Kids can grab a board and enjoy paddling around, and no beach day would be complete without a BBQ to keep everyone fueled for the fun! Don't forget to follow us on Facebook (Nelson Surf Life Saving Club) and Instagram (@nelsonslsc) for the latest updates and events. We can't wait to see you there!

Information on Nelson Surf Life Saving Club's Nippers/Junior Surf Program

Our Junior Surf (Nipper) program is focused on learning, gaining confidence and most importantly having fun in a safe beach environment. The skills gained at Nippers will stick like sand from the beach, and will be carried for life. Children will learn how to identify dangers on the beach and most importantly how to keep themselves safe.

Children must be a minimum of 7 years old  and up to a maximum of 13 years old (Under 14) to participate in the program. The Sunday program provides a controlled environment for children to enjoy swimming, board paddling, wading, beach sprints and flags.

For our 13 year olds we offer our Rookie Lifeguard Programme which has been designed to help junior surf members prepare to be Surf Lifeguard.

Lifesaving is something for the whole family to get involved in and there are many supporting roles that you can play as a parent of a child involved in Junior Activities.
