Interschool Cross Country Individual Race
Last week saw us take our top runners out to Rabbit Island for the Individual Interschool Cross Country Race, again great conditions meant for some fantastic racing.
The runners had to run 2.4km which was 2 laps of a very testing course with everything thrown at them, sand dunes, logs, steep downs and ups.
WIS did well and had a large amount of our runners come in between 5th - 15th.
Some standout runners were Bella Cain-Townley who won the Yr8 girls race quite convincingly with Makayla Sheridan coming in 3rd in the same race.
Really impressed to see those runners giving it their all and pushing themselves, with some students surprising themselves with their results.
I would like to thank Jon and Karyn Linyard who set up these courses for us.
Girls Tackle 7's
Last Wednesday 22 WIS girls went down to Tahunanui to take part in a Tackle 7's Girls Tournament competing against the other Intermediate Schools in the region.
We had been training a couple of times a week at lunchtimes to get ready for this and it was challenging for the girls who were taking part for the first time in tackle rugby.
When we arrived some of the girls were nervous but disappeared quickly as their frozen feet took over their minds. The girls confidence grew throughout the day and both teams had a great experience.
Dates for next term.
Winter Tournament: Friday 20th August
Girls Rippa Festival: Wednesday 15th September
