WINNING ENTRY

They ran through the countryside, flanking out in all directions, the black figure close behind them.

All you could hear was the children’s heavy breathing, and their footsteps thumping on the grass beneath their feet.

They were running for their lives.

All they could hope to do was manage to make it to the forest before the figure reached them.

They all looked behind them and watched in horror as one of the children, a little boy, tripped and screamed as the figure pounced on him.

They had to keep running, no matter what.

They were all silent as they ran, hoping that they wouldn't get caught.

There was another scream, this time a girl.

She was gone, there was nothing the others could do about it. The first figure had been joined by two more, all three of them chasing the remaining five children.

There were two more screams, two more figures and only three survivors left.

The remaining children raced ahead, the forest coming into view.

They sprinted forwards, hope rising in their hearts.

One was unfortunate and got caught.

One more figure.

The last two children reached the forest.
