Room 12's Trip to Whenua Iti

On August the 31st, Room 12 went to Whenua Iti for a class trip. We got on the bus and the journey began. 45 minutes later we arrived at Whenua Iti. Once we got there we were greeted and played a game of heel-to-toe tag and finding Nemo which was very funny. Then we ate and kicked the rugby ball over the volleyball net.
When it was time to move on, Whaea Kat blew the whistle and we all gathered around so she could split us into two groups. Our group started on a trapeze. It was really high and scary. Six people had to pull the ropes down the bottom so people wouldn't fall. We had to climb up this big pole with a ladder attached to it and then you got a five-second count down, then you had to jump and try to touch this buoy that was floating in the air (but you could jump from a smaller platform if you wanted). And then just before lunch, we did some fun team-building activities. After that, we ate some food and went back to kicking the rugby ball again.
Then our group was now running around an obstacle course 3 times but some people did it 6 or 7 times by choice. It was tiring just doing 3, so I don't know how people did more! Once we finished that, we headed back to the main field and had to buddy up. One of the buddies were given a blindfold so they couldn't see. The other partner had to guide them to a random tree. They got to smell and feel the leaves then we took them back to the starting spot and they had to go try to find the tree without the blindfold on.
After that Charlie, our group’s instructor explained a drumming game to us, which is when he would play the drums a few times and we had to try to find him while we were blindfolded. First, he was just standing around this grass padlock and then he moved into the bushes. It was really embarrassing going through the bushes and everyone who had made it to him was watching us walk into all the trees and tripping over the rope! When we had stopped looking stupid we took off the blindfold and separated into groups to do a treasure hunt. He gave us this piece of paper that has pictures of places around the park and we have to try to find them. They all had numbers on them and we had to find them to write down the number in the right spot.
Just as soon as he had marked our work we went and kicked the rugby ball over the volleyball net for a bit again until the other group was finished and the bus turned up. By the time we arrived back at school the bell had already rung so we all headed home. It was an awesome day!
