Waimea Cross Country – Friday 15th June
This year’s Waimea Intermediate School Cross Country is being keenly anticipated with the sixth running of the Saxton Gold Rush. The course at Saxton Field Circus Oval sees competitor’s complete two laps around an 800m course. The track is reminiscent of a classical cross country and spectators have the opportunity to remain close to the action at all times. There are numerous small water jumps to add excitement for the athletes and even a small hill.
It is vital that students wear shoes to protect their feet and have warm dry clothes to put on afterwards. The start times are:
Year 7 Girls 12:30 pm
Year 7 Boys 12:50 pm
Year 8 Girls 1:10 pm
Year 8 Boys 1:30 pm
Parents are encouraged to spectate and celebrate the efforts the children have put into developing their fitness throughout the first half of the year. A number of children will then be chosen to represent the school at the inter school events held at Saxton Field and Rabbit Island during the following two weeks.
