In our composite classes for Year 7 and Year 8, the school year commences with Year 7 pupils starting a day ahead of their Year 8 counterparts, providing an invaluable opportunity for them to familiarise themselves with new classmates and teachers.

As a large intermediate school we have developed facilities to help us meet the specific developmental needs of our students.

Students living more than 3.2km from WIS are eligible for the free school bus service. Students travelling by bus will sign a behavior contract. Exemplary behaviour is expected on all buses. There will be consequences for inappropriate behaviour.

The uniform has been modified over time to meet parent and student needs. It is designed to be comfortable, appealing and to allow for active movement. All items are unisex. It is to be worn correctly with no non-uniform or alternative items such as other jackets/hoodies.

Start of year stationery is available ONLINE from OfficeMax during December and January.

We are approved by the Ministry of Education to enrol international students. Waimea College arrange home stay accommodation for our students.
