Lockdown Drill

Jenny Maloney —

As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our students, we we will be conducting a lockdown drill next week.

The practise drill is to familiarize students and staff with the procedures to follow in the event of a lockdown situation. Rest assured that this is a precautionary measure, and there is no immediate threat to the safety of our school community.

During the drill, students will be guided by their teachers to move quickly and quietly to designated safe areas within the school premises. Teachers will follow established protocols to secure classrooms and maintain a calm and orderly environment.

Please ensure that your contact information on file with the school is up-to-date. In the event of a real emergency, timely communication is crucial. Notify the school office immediately if there are any changes to your contact details.

In the event of a real lockdown, there are a few key things we need you to know.

1. You will receive a message via HERO informing you the school is in lockdown and another once the lockdown is over.

2. Stay away from school - you cannot pick your child up until the lockdown is over.

3. Do not 'go viral' by sharing information on social media, without full information of a situation it can cause undue distress to the community.

School going into a lockdown is not always for aggressive humans, it can be used for a bee swarm or aggressive animal on site or a situation in the neighbourhood that police are responding to. The decision to go into a formal lockdown is made by the Principal and in certain circumstances alongside the police.

A lockdown is not something to fear, it is part of the schools kete to keep your children safe while they are in the schools care.
