Ahi's Financial Fiesta
A fun, festive time was had by all at Ahi's Financial Fiesta.
This was a culmination of a term's learning about Financial Literacy - including recognising New Zealand Coins, understanding how we get money, and what we use money for.
On Monday afternoon, Ahi children were able to shop at our 'pop up' Ahi shops and activity stalls, using our CORE currency. Throughout the term, the children had been earning CORE vouchers, which were turned into an Ahi ticket on the day.
There were bargins galore to be found, from second hand books and used clothing, to popcorn cups and stationery items. We were so proud of the way the children showed patience and thoughtfulness when they shopped and waited in line. Thank you also to the parents who jumped in to help minimise some of the wait times!
During the course of the term we have not only produced money themed art works and learnt the value of our coins and notes, but we have also learnt about shop etiquette - so be prepared for some fabulous helpers when you next head out to the stores!
