The Pakeke Lions Club, Taupō have proudly received the Youth Award 2023.

For over three years now, this group of dedicated men have run a rat trapping group called 'The Little Lion Trappers'. Shopping for materials, building traps from scratch, setting and monitoring traps have all been a part of this engaging project. Collaboration with the Lions is often seen with whole school environmental events, such as our Envirofest in 2023. Easy to spot in their yellow high visibility vests, Ian, Martin, Roger and John are the crew that we will regularly see in 2024. 

Sky and Oscar, who are now stepping into a leadership role in the group, stand proudly holding this award. As passionate environmentalists, they have been keen to soak up the knowledge and skills of their Pakeke buddies. We are excited for the year ahead and to continue the positive learning partnership that has developed.
