Wairakei School Enrolment Zone developed
As part of the Christchurch School's Education Plan after the earthquakes, all schools have been tasked with developing an enrolment zone so that property and rolls are managed.
The Wairakei School Board of Trustees, has been working with the Boards of Trustees of Burnside Primary School, Waimairi School and Isleworth School over the last 2 years, when the rebuild numbers of our respective schools were outlined by the Ministry of Education.
In response to this, the Boards have met over this time to discuss zones and in most cases, developing a school enrolment zone. Waimairi School who already have a zone, were asked by the Ministry of Education to reduce their roll as part of their building plan, and Burnside were asked to implement a zone so that their building plan and build number could be finalised. This then had ongoing ramifications for both Wairakei and Isleworth Schools which did not have exisiting enrolment zones. In order to progress the building developments any further for all schools in our immediate area, a roll number had to be decided upon for these schools.
While Wairakei School is having ongoing conversations with the Ministry of Education regarding our roll number, our agreements with Waimairi School has ensured that we can progress now with finalising our enrolment zone.
Isleworth School has also begun the process of finalising their enrolment zone, again through conversations with our Board of Trustees.
Please have a look at the proposed enrolment zone attached and email any comments you have to me for the Board to discuss.
