Blue Skies Camp 2019
The Wairakei year 4 students enjoyed their camp at Blue Skies, Kaiapoi.
On Wednesday 6th March the year 4's headed to Blue Skies for 3 action packed days of camp. The weather for the first 2 days was incredible with temperatures in the mid to high 20's. This allowed maximin use of the swimming pool.
Day one included a visit to the Kaiapoi Museum with a scavenger hunt designed to introduce all the exciting treasures within the Museum. Upon our departure the children did an outstanding job of singing the waiata Tu tira Mai Nga Iwi.
Throughout the camp the children were involved in a number of camp activities; including rock climbing, riding the flying fox, confidence course, initiatives, swimming, water sliding and outdoor sport games. We had amazing parent helpers; Simon McGeorge, Aimee Donald, Joe Wallace, Amanda Clarke and Mike Cleverley. They were truly fantastic and we all appreciated their 'get stuck in' attitudes. Thank you!
The children were absolutely brilliant. They pushed themselves and took on challenges with great success. All of the students can be commended for their impeccable behaviour. They were a pleasure to take on camp.
Mealtimes were fun and tasty with children showing they all have wonderful table manners. For dinner on the first night we had a BBQ and the second night we had burgers. Everyone ate lots of food and went to bed with full tummies.
A big thank you must go out to all the parents who supplied transport for the camp. This helps to cut down costs and allows parents an opportunity to have a look around Blue Skies.
What an Absolutely Brilliant time we all had on camp.
