On March 22 Phoenix, Adela, Xavier and Samuel represented Wairakei School to accept the category winning award in the Papanui Innes Community Garden Awards.

It was very exciting and an honour for Wairakei School to be awarded the 'Winners Award' for our category, 'Early Learning Centres, Primary, Intermediate and Secondary Schools' in the Papanui Innes Edible Garden Awards.

Phoenix and Samuel spoke at the awards ceremony and answered questions from councillor, Ali Jones about our garden, hens and Enviro Ed programme. This is the second year we have entered the awards but this was the first time picking up an award.
