Chicken Pox

We wish to make you aware that there is chickenpox in the school community.  Signs to look for are listed below.

- This disease is spread by coughing and sneezing. Also direct contact with weeping       blisters.

- Time between exposure and sickness is 13 - 17 days

- Early signs are fever and spots with a blister on top of each spot

- A child is infectious from up to 5 days before appearance of rash until lesions have      crusted (usually about 5 days).

- Exclusion from kindergartens, schools, etc. is for one week from date of appearance    of rash.
