Science in Ōtākaro

Millie Hume —

Over the weekend the mad scientist delivered Ōtākaro some flowers.

On Monday, we filled some jars with water. We filled some jars next to them with water and food colouring. We trimmed the end of the flowers and put them into the jars.

Over the week we will observe the changes we see with the flowers. We will compare the flower that is just sitting in water with the one that is sitting in water and food colouring.

Within the first few hours we started to notice the inside of the flowers change colour. By the end of the first day the flowers were a pastel colour. Come into Ōtākaro to see the way the flowers are changing the week.

The photos are of the flowers when they were first put into the jars and an updated photo at the end of Day 1. I wonder what will happen next?
