New soft fall replacing bark in playgrounds

Shane Buckner —

We have taken the move to replace all our barked play areas with new high specification soft fall.

We are very fortunate to have such large grounds, and also the four different playgrounds we have on site. It is great to see these being used in the weekends and holiday times as well. At a cost of just over $36, 000, the Board of Trustees has made a significant investment into the health and safety of our children while playing on our playground areas. The new soft fall material is the same that is being used by Chch City Council and the Ministry of Education in it's new school sites and is replacing the older bark style ground cover.

The Ministry of Education has been able to support the school with this, and we thank our property team for their help and guidance.

The soft fall and playground maintenance is the responsibility of the Board, but this can only happen through locally raised funds. This means that we will be targeting some specific fundraising events in the future to ensure we continue with annual top ups for our playgrounds.
