It may have been wet and dreary when we left Christchurch, but the weather cleared for the welcome onto the Marae for the first campers this morning.

The weather cleared enough for the campers to head down to the beach in the  afternoon and set some little campfires to cook potatoes on. This was a new experience for the majority of the campers and one they thoroughly enjoyed. Plenty more to happen over the next two days before the second group of campers arrive for their marae stay and the current group joins with the tangata whenua to welcome them on to the marae.
