Our Hereora Cluster continues the focus on collaboration across the schools.

Shane Buckner —

Already in 2016, the Hereora Cluster leaders have begun working together on developing the Achievement Challenge with support from the Student Achievement Function staff at the Ministry of Education.

Hereora Cluster Initiatives

Our Hereora Cluster programme is already quite full for the term. As well as the leadership team meeting a number of times during the term, our Learning Groups are also meeting and offering different experiences for our children across the cluster. Some Junior children will be involved in an Early Years Math programme led by senior students at Breens Intermediate, our Youth Leaders will be meeting for a seminar later in the term, and some staff will be involved in developing their own learning and networks.

We are also very excited that a Hereora Cluster Waiata has been written by children for children. This was recorded late last year, and our Ropu will be introduced to it this week at their usual kapahaka lesson time this week. They will then share this to the rest of the school over the next few weeks.

Our Hereora Cluster Achievement Challenge which forms part of the Community of Learning guidelines has begun to take shape. The focus is on writing, with particular emphasis on boys writing. This Achievement Challenge has also been incorporated into our own school Annual Target within our school Charter, submitted to the Ministry as part of school compliance.

We look forward to bringing you updated information as it develops over the coming months.
