Haka Pōwhiri to welcome visitors on Monday

Shane Buckner —

Last Monday, we held a full school haka pōwhiri to welcome our review team from the Education Review Office to our school.

As previously mentioned, our school had a visit from the Education Review Office during week 5 - Monday 29th May to Wednesday 31 May.

The Board of Trustees and staff shared the developments taken place since our last review in 2013. In particular, we shared about the collaborative teaching and learning journey we have been on, and one which we have shared with numerous schools from across New Zealand on their visits to us over the last two years especially.

We are extremely proud of the way we actively practise differentiation in preparing specific programmes for our children. This shows we know our learners, we assess where they are at regularly, and implement targeted learning programmes, engaging external support where it is necessary. We are very well known for this, and our inclusive practice evident in our Absolutely Brilliant Wairakei Curriculum and the quality day to day teaching happening throughout our school.

The review was able to confirm the great practice we have here in our school. We look forward to sharing the findings with you in the new term once it has been shared with the Board of Trustees.
