Seesaw connecting family with the classroom

Rod Newton —

This year all the teachers and students at Wairakei School have been experimenting with an exciting new app addition ‘Seesaw’ in the classroom. Seesaw gives your child creative tools to capture and reflect on their learning and share this with you in real time.

Students have access to several options that encourage creative thinking and sharing of student work. This will help keep you connected you with your child’s learning and classroom activities.

To ensure success in the classroom with Seesaw we need your help. Students enjoy using Seesaw to reflect and grow in all areas of the classroom. They would love to connect, share and receive feedback from family. We will be opening the platform up to parents and family in Term 2. There will be a Family Information Evening on Tuesday, May 14th.

Once connected, when your child adds new work, you will receive a notification to see, hear and respond to your child’s learning item. You only have access to your own child’s work and all of the content is stored securely. The more you connect on and react to your child’s work, the more excited they will be about finishing their work and sharing it with you at home. With your help, we can continue to strengthen our home/school partnerships and increase our children’s engagement.

When: Parent’s Information Evening on Tuesday, 14th May in term 2. 6:30-7:30pm.

If you have any questions, bring them along to the information session.
