In the Wairere team, we have started our Inquiry unit on Green Energy Go. We are learning all about renewable energy and how it is generated.
On Friday Miss Hume's Dad came into school to share his knowledge about green energy. He works at Meridian Energy and was able to share with us all the work they do in generating and distributing green energy.
He bought into school a model of the wind turbines they use in the wind farms. There was a model car with the wind turbine so we could how big the turbines are in real life! He also explained to us about where the best places are to build wind turbines, how much they cost to build and how they are made.
At the end of his talk, we went outside and he showed us an electric car. The car was silent, had zero emissions and all you had to do was charge it to make the car to work!
Thank you Mr. Hume for coming in and sharing with us all of your knowledge about renewable energy!
