Wai-iti use the learning characteristic of "we work hard" to practice their Kapa haka skills!
Wairakei School is lucky enough to have Sonny and Tui visit to take Kapa haka every Friday. Wai-iti is very keen to learn new languages, especially Te Reo. They really enjoy the leaders, actions, stamping, clapping and definitely the shouting! One of our favourite songs is the Fruit Haka - see the lyrics below.
Wai-iti are super enthusiastic and love to practice performing!
Fruit Haka (actions)
Panana Panana (hold a banana away from you)
Pītiti, pītiti (hold a peach close to you)
Āporo, Āporo (hold an apple to your mouth)
He pai kai mō tō tinana (rub tummy)
Hī (jump into hands on hips) x2
