Prefect Profile - Dylan Jones
Prefect Role: Environmental Prefect / Head of Sutherland
Gday, I’m Dylan Jones a year 13 lucky to be part of the 2022 prefect team. This year my roles include the environment prefect and the head of Sutherland house.
What are my interests and hobbies?
I love to talk sports, I have always been very passionate about basketball and football. Not being a natural athlete (and a bit accident prone) I had to figure out how to be involved in basketball without being on the court. Last year I was lucky to be able to help coach some of our junior basketball players with Toby. I still play a bit of basketball socially with my mates but I’d rather be playing alongside Josh Giddey on the Oklahoma City Thunder. Other than sports I’ve always enjoyed getting up on a stage and pretending to be somebody else. I enjoy performing and I was lucky to be part of two school productions during my time here.
What is my role/ what can I bring to my role?
As environment prefect this year, my main goal is to improve the environment at WBHS and to hopefully start a veggie garden at school, as well as continue our progress from last year on getting water flowing through the creek. I’m proud to be this year's head of Sutherland. During my time at school, I was always inspired by other Sutherland prefects to get involved in everything and give new things a go. This year I want to encourage everyone in Sutherland to get involved and make the most of every opportunity to try something new. (and get Sutherland to the promised land).
One thing I love about WBHS is our brotherhood and culture we have here at school. Last year performing the haka on Scrano night was one of the highlights of the year because so much work had gone into learning and creating the haka and all the boys were really excited to finally perform it. Another important part of our school culture is boys supporting each other during interschools, in particular the interschool week with our mates across the road. This week is always my favorite week of the year because everyone is proud to be a Waitakian and the support for every sport is seen and heard by everybody.
