WBHS PREFECTS vs WGHS STUDENT LEADERS

Blake Martin and Paula Symes —

On Friday night the WBHS Prefects took on WGHS in a very entertaining game of netball. The game was a fiery one with both sides wanting the win ever so much.

In the first quarter we came out firing and manage to play remarkably well taking a 13-5 lead. The 2nd quarter however saw WGHS making a comeback outscoring us 6-5, with the halftime score being 18-11 to us.

We ended up dominating the 3rd and 4th quarters with our physical and fast approach. Scores: 3rd quarter 25-14 and the final score 31-19.

Big ups to the lads for taking the win and gaining back the trophy, plus thank you to the girls for the great game.

A huge thanks must go to our awesome coach Mrs Paula Symes for turning us into a world class team over night.

Also thanks to Brieana and Alice for being the match officials for the game

Plus my two cents:

The boys played really well on Friday night against the girls. There were moments of absolute brilliance and then others of complete chaos which made the game incredibly entertaining for the supporters there watching.

The boys dominated the game with their size, aerial displays and the ability to get the ball from one end of the court to the other within a couple of seconds.

Highlights included:

The combination of Joseph, Blain, Sam & Taz on attack, they were unstoppable most of the time. The boys under the hoop were gold, if they missed the shot they secured the rebound.

Josh who had barely got his bib over his head before getting a timely deflection on defence.

Daniel's calm and accurate shooting ability.

Joseph's quick behind the back passing.

Jake & Jack, these two both had amazing netball skills and great ability to bring the ball through the court.

Our defensive line up which included Matt, Handre, Blake, Josh, Ben & Vandy. These boys all had numerous intercepts, tips, rebounds and really applied the pressure to the girls on attack.

Well done to the boys, thank you to the girls and to the umpires. What an awesome start to the winter sports season.
