Queenstown Mountainbiking

WBHS Sport —

The Waitaki Boys' High School Mountainbiking team went on their annual visit to the Skyline Gondola MTB tracks in Queenstown on 22nd November.

We had 9 boys and two girls from Waitaki Boy's High School on the trip. It was a big day for the group, leaving before 8am and returning to Oamaru at 10:30pm! Most students managed to get in 6 runs over the day, which meant they were riding for around 4 solid hours.Students had the opportunity to ride easy flowing tracks, through to serious technical downhill. Most students chose to hire high-spec downhill bikes with afull-face helmet in Queenstown, allowing them to tackle most of the tracks. The weather was stunning and the students had a blast, with no injuries. Luke Acheson described it as "the most fun day of his life"!Many thanks to Richard Plunket and Ian Cope who were the parent helpers on the day.
