Prefect Profile - Tim Sergeant

WBHS —

Prefect Role: He Ara Tika Prefect / Deputy Head of Lee

Gday, I’m Tim Sargeant, I’m a year 13 student and part of the 2022 prefect team. I am the He Ara Tika prefect and deputy head of Lee house.

What are my interests and hobbies?

There's nothing extreme if I'm being honest, but my go to thing to do in my free time is just relax and chill out, go and hang out with my friends, or the misses, chuck on some music and talk about anything and everything. I also like to meet up with my mates and go play some sport or just muck about around town. Like every teenage boy I still enjoy my video games, if I’m not with mates and have a bit of free time that probably what I’ll be up to.

Why did I want to become a prefect?

Ever since I was sitting in the hall of memories in 2018, when the first couple weeks of my high school journey had started, I sit in silence watch the prefect induction ceremony go ahead, I am sitting on the hard wooden benches and hear the rector give out a short speech about what it means to be a prefect, and how anyone can strive to become one as well. Right then I decided that I wanted to become a prefect when I finally strike year 13, since that assembly it has been one of my biggest goals to achieve at Waitaki Boys, for the next 4 years I strived to be the best I could be at school until the end of year 12, sitting on the hard wooden benches at prize giving, hearing my name be called out when listing the prefect team for 2022, alongside some of my best mates, it was one of the best highlights for my high school journey.

What matters most to me?

Well, it's pretty corny but it is what it is, my friends, family and the people I surround myself with is what matters most to me, and I am lucky to have such an amazing friend group that have my back through anything going on in my life, they’re some of the nicest and funniest people you can ever meet. The staff at Waitaki Boys are the most caring, smart and kind people you could ask for in this stage of life and the Boys and I are forever grateful and appreciative for what they do on a daily basis.
