A warm welcome to our new staff

Greg Familton (Mathematics)

Greg joins us from Waimate High School having taught at Waitaki Boys’ in 2018. Greg is a proud old boy of the school who enjoys running – he is currently training for the Buller half marathon, tramping and has both coached and managed Rugby.

Ethan Smith (Science)

Ethan joins us from the University of Otago, College of Education. Ethan was educated at Taieri College in Mosgiel and graduated from the University of Otago in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science (First Class Honours in Zoology). Ethan enjoys the outdoors - particularly surfing, snowboarding and tramping.

Ryan Westgate (Head of English)

Ryan has been teaching English and History at King’s High School in Dunedin for the past five years and joins us as Head of English. Before King’s, Ryan taught at St Kevin’s College. Outside of school Ryan enjoys going to the gym and is a competitive kickboxer.

Ben Winders (English)

Ben joins us form Garin College in Nelson where he was teaching Music. He did some relief teaching here in 2018. Ben has been teaching around the world for over 20 years. More recently he has taught at Verdon College and Waimate High School before Garin. Ben enjoys the rural lifestyle – he is still part of a shearing gang and is also passionate about tikanga Maori.

Other Staff Changes

Henry Jones is Acting Head of the Technology department for 2020.

Andrew Kaufana has been appointed the permanent Director of Boarding

Shona Campbell-Savage has been seconded by the Ministry of Education for Terms 1 and 2 and she has temporarily been replaced as Head of Learning Support by Heather Couper
