Welcome back to Term 2. I have to admit to making a ‘sluggish’ start after flying back from Bangkok and only arriving on the first Monday. My first visit to South East Asia was an amazing experience – the contrasts of prosperity and poverty which can be seen within metres of each other were confronting as was the heat and the traffic.

Our first group of Red and Black Awards, along with Sporting Achievement awards were handed out in assembly today, as a Waitakian, these awards are one of the most significant accolades you can receive for extra-curricular activity.

Well done everyone on another good interschool. We had almost 400 students taking part on Wednesday with some really good games played in great spirit.

The Waitaki Boys' annual Anzac Service was held on the 30th April in the Hall of Memories.

Nominations are invited for the election of five parent representatives to the board of trustees.

Throughout Term 1, 10Al have been doing some ANZAC research that they presented for people to view and participate in, after the Anzac Service.

Over 100 boys achieved an average of 4 or above on their fortnightly notes over the last term. They were treated to a morning tea shout by the Rector

The Level 2 Geographers are spending a couple of nights up the valley and visiting Mt Cook.

Four students from WBHS, Jared Perkins, Lochlan Cowles, Josh Kinnaird and Bradley McIntosh, are attending the South Island SADD (Students Against Dangerous Drivng) conference in Christchurch. The students are learning more about SADD and how to positively influence their peers about safer driving.
