Netball is Back!

Mrs L Lane, Teacher in Charge of Netball —

We are very excited that Netball training has resumed ready to start N.O. competition in Term 3.

After a long wait we are finally able to commence training ready for the 2020 North Otago Netball season.  We have 9 teams entered into the competition at various grades from Premier to 1.4 and all the players cannot wait to pull on the uniform and represent WGHS.  The focus is on teamwork and fitness at present as we regroup after our lockdown hiatus but all the coaches are very pleased with the enthusiasm and effort the girls have already brought to the court.

The season starts on Saturday 25th July and will run for 10 weeks with finals day on Saturday 26th September (the first weekend of the holidays). We are very grateful for North Otago subsidising our fees for this season - this means that there will only be a $20 sub this year, which works out as $2 per game!

There will be a modified tournament and inter school programme during Term 3; dates for these are still being finalised.  The WGHS netball club are also planning our own end of season tournament - watch this space for further information about this as we confirm the details.

So, as we move further into Level 1 and no restrictions on gatherings there is no excuse not to head to the Netball courts on a Saturday afternoon to support the red and black. Look forward to seeing you on the sideline.
