Gateway Early Childhood Education and Teaching programs lead to exciting opportunities for three Waitaki Girls’ students

Completing work experience and distance study in the Early Childhood and Primary School Education fields has opened up some exciting opportunities for three Waitaki Girls' students.

This year Megan Creedy completed distance study in Early Childhood Education and alongside this spent one afternoon per week at Little Wonders. She really enjoyed these experiences and now feels that she has a passion for educating young children. Megan decided to pursue work as an Au Pair for 2021 and approached an Au Pair agency. After going through the selection process with the agency Megan was introduced to a family and was excited to get the news that they have chosen to employ her as their Au Pair to look after their three children in Auckland next year. That will be one huge adventure!!

Charlotte Cunningham also completed studies in Early Childhood Education this year along with completing work experience at Casa Nova Kindergarten. Charlotte first began to realise that she enjoyed working with young children through spending time with her nephew and niece. Charlotte’s excited to have very recently got the news that she’s been accepted into the Early Childhood Education teaching program at the University of Otago. Well done Charlotte!

Zoe Smith has had Gateway Early Childhood Education as part of her school programme in both Year 12 and year 13. Last year Zoe went to Casa Nova Kindergarten for work experience and this year has been going to Pembroke School for a day each week. Through these experiences and also through helping care for her siblings, Zoe decided that Primary School Teaching is where her passion lies. Zoe received the exciting news that she has been accepted into the Primary School teaching program at the University of Otago. Well done Zoe!

We wish these and all students well in their future endeavours!
