Trades Academy

Mrs J Howden —

Our Trades Academy students have been out at various workplaces to complete Health and Safety briefings before undertaking work placements.

Our Trades Academy students have been out at various workplaces to complete Health and Safety briefings before undertaking work placements. Trades Academy is a new initiative at Waitaki Girls' and is run at school with the Primary ITO as part of our vocational training programmes. At the end of the two years, if all units are completed, they will gain a New Zealand Certificate in Primary Industry Skills (Level 2). The photograph shows the girls at Totara Estate - they said they were checking for choking hazards (scones with jam and cream) and burns (hot cups of tea). Not a bad way to end their Health and Safety session
