Pink Shirt Day 2024
On Friday 19th May it was the annual Pink Shirt Day in New Zealand. The wellbeing committee helped organise this wonderful day.
We celebrated Pink Shirt Day with a whole school shared morning tea, with each whānau group gathering food to add to the table in the hall. We all heard a speech from our school's service student leader, Poppy, who shared an important message about acts of kindness that we can do to support each other. Charlotte Lane sang a beautiful version of the song, Rise Up by ‘Andra Day’ which fitted with the theme of our day. Cerys and Lucas then talked with us about ways that we can support each other and the diversity represented in our community, emphasising the importance of taking care with the words we use. This day was a lovely way to get everyone together to show the importance of the anti-bullying message. So we all need to remember the key importance that was talked about at school: “In a world where you could choose to be anything, choose to be kind!” When choosing to be kind, you should never feel afraid of doing so because showing your small acts of kindness to someone may just make the difference for someone, and you never know how much you could brighten their day.
