Girl Boss Edge: Law, Policy and Government Edition Graduate Jaida Gardiner

Ms S Hull, HoL Social Sciences —

During the last school holidays, Jaida Gardiner also had the pleasure of joining the three previously mentioned students, (Emily Weir, Emily Braid and Milly Matthews) to take part in the Girl Boss Edge: Law, Policy and Government Edition programme. This was a fabulous opportunity for Jaida, working alongside some of the most influential criminal justice advocates and human rights activists as well as Member of Parliament, the Right Honorable Carmel Sepuloni.

Jaida’s highlights were the Facebook lives with the guest speakers, especially as she felt that she had no prior knowledge about the ins and outs of New Zealand government and the various policy makers. She found the range of jobs available in this field, as well as learning what it was that they actually did, super inspiring. Although she got a lot out of this programme, she is now much more focused on the next stage of the Girl Boss programme, where she will find out in a few days’ time, whether she has been granted an internship with either a real estate agent or an architect in Auckland. I wish her all the best with this exciting development.
