Principal's Address

Ms Sarah Hay —

As we close our term, I sum up the term as one of building community, connection, and celebration.

Welcoming our new students over the term has been a highlight as many have brought their own strengths with them to our already vibrant community.

As our teachers have worked to build positive and productive relationships with your children in both classroom and co-curricular settings, you as parents, have supported us through your attendance at parent-teacher interviews and email or phone contact with staff. Connections matter! Strong ties with family, friends, colleagues, parents, and the community provide us with a sense of purpose, lifts our wellbeing, build self-esteem, and ultimately lead to improved mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing. Thank you to each person in our community who has worked to build connections!

Over the term, we have celebrated special events and people at our assemblies. We really appreciated the support of our coaches, managers, and parents. Congratulations to our athletes and to those students who have made the effort to involve themselves in the wider life of our school community whether that be performing arts, culture, sports, iterant music, or speech and drama. Enabling students to involve themselves in our co-curricular programme helps stimulate creative thought and improves organisation and social skills while providing leadership learning. Students will very often thrive and strive when the curricular and co-curricular are in sync.

As we move into our Easter break, I want to thank you for your continued support and wish you a good Easter break.

Nāku iti noa, nā

Sarah Hay
