The Holocaust Centre of New Zealand is running its annual Paul Seideman Composition Competition.

There are three age categories but the two that appear to Waitaki Girls' are:Years 9-10 and Years 11-13. The entries can be in three different formats - either essay, video or media clip. The essay is a maximum 750 words for Years 9-10 and a maximum 1000 words for Years 11-13. If it is a video/media clip - it is to be no longer than 5 minutes.
This years topic for both age groups is:
"The events of the Holocaust led to unfathomable suffering amongst millions of people throughout Europe. Explain how the idea of resilience helped Holocaust survivors throughout the events from 1933-1945."
The prize is - which they will receive at the United Nations International Holocaust Remembrance Day in Wellington, 27th January 2021 - is the following:
* Return flights to Wellington for the student and one guardian* Overnight hotel accommodation in Wellington* A cheque for $200* Framed certificate.
