James & Paula Symes, LJ Hooker Oamaru – Sportsperson of the Month

Waitaki Girls' High School —

Each month James and Paula from LJ Hooker Oamaru will be highlighting a student from each of our Oamaru secondary schools who have achieved something special in sport.

The Sportsperson’s recognition may be as a player, a student coach or an umpire for any reason from high achievement to commitment and attitude.

Each of the highlighted students will receive a voucher from James and Paula Symes supporting a local business, plus at the end of 2021 all of the students mentioned over the months will go in to the draw for a major prize.

For the month of May WGHS highlighted Charlotte Lane

Charlotte competed in the NZSS Trampoline Competition, where she won the NZSS double mini title.

She then went on to gain silver in the South Island competition - losing out on Gold by just 0.1 of a mark! This result ranks her in the top 3 for the upcoming Nationals event - an amazing achievement and the result of a lot of training, both mental and physical.

Charlotte also finished 7th in individual trampoline, again gaining qualifying scores for the Gymnastics NZ Nationals competition in July.

Also highlighted for May:

Marshall Hore – Waitaki Boys’ High School

Joshua Collins - St Kevin's College.
