Update to EOTC Process
This week you should have received an email with a link to our new Blanket Consent form.
We have recently reviewed our Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) procedures at Waitaki Girls'. The aim of the review was to ensure that the planning and paperwork required by both school and parents be relevant and in line with the amount of risk associated with the trip. Following the Ministry of Education's EOTC Guideline 2016 produced by Education Outdoors NZ we have made some updates to our EOTC process.
We have produced a Blanket Consent form, which will mitigate the need for specific permission forms for lower risk day trips.
Parents/Caregivers will be asked to complete this form before their daughter is able to participate in activities covered by our blanket consent process.
This form will only be filled out once during your daughter's time at WGHS, therefore it is very important that student details such as health information and emergency contacts are kept up to date with the school office if they change from those included in form or at enrolment.
The form includes more specific information about what types of trips will be covered by blanket consent and how the process will work.
As some activities on our calendar are already well into planning stages using our current system, this blanket consent process will be phased in. We ask for your understanding around this and are happy to answer any questions along the way.
If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact EOTC Coordinator Alicia Jones ajones@waitakigirlshigh.school.nz
For questions specific to any activity your daughter is participating in, please contact the teacher in charge who sent out the activity information letter.
