at Otago Boys' High School on the 7th June 2023

For the first time, three students competed in the Pacific Voices Speech Competition held at Otago Boys' High School.
This event began when a Year 12 student from Otago Girls’ High School believed that a Pacific Speech competitionshould be held. That was in 2019 and it has been running ever since. The proverb for the senior speech was: “If youwant to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.” 

The three students, Kika Tangifolau, Katea Tangifolau,

Sia Nukulasi spoke from the heart and all three had an interpretation of the proverb that was personal yetinformative. The three students represented Waitaki Girls' with pride and clearly demonstrated our three R’s (Respect, Responsibility and Resilience).

Although we did not place in this year’s competition, I was extremely proud of all three girls and the efforts that theyput into preparing for this competition.
