Amazing Up-Cycle Creations
Three junior classes in Textile Technology were given the challenge in Lockdown to create something from items around their home. The results are awesome.
A huge congratulations to the students in year 9 and 10 Textiles Technology who rose to the “up-cycle challenge” that they were given over Lockdown.
The girls put a lot of thought into their projects. They were encouraged to use any materials and resources that they could find around their homes to make their projects, and to use the people in their bubble as a knowledge resource.
The top three in year 10 were Georgia Hawkins for a sculpture made from keys, locks and wire; Jessica Lake made a tall flower sculpture from off-cuts in wood and card, with inspirational words written on it. Holly Horn made a sensory pillow for a stroke patient- it had some great re-learning activities on it like a zip, buttons to do up and beads to play with as well as abundance of textures. Abby Rowland very skilfully made a negative space string art, with an image of a stag.
Year Nine were equally amazing. Top prizes went
to Sophie Notman for her bird feeder; Sai Sukumar and Rianna Shepherd who were in
the same bubble, made shelving units that sat on top of each
