Aoraki Junior Secondary Schools Volleyball
On Wednesday 17th November, our junior volleyball team headed to Timaru for the Aoraki Championships.
We were going to take two teams but, due to Level 2 restrictions, could only take seven players and two coaches.
Games started at 9.00am with 2 rounds in pool play leading to the semi-finals. The team won their section beating Ashburton B and Timaru Girls’ HS A to qualify for the semi-finals where they beat Craighead Diocesan 25-5, 25-3. It was a great performance!
In the final they took the first set off Ashburton A but unfortunately lost the decider 15-10. It was a very creditable performance by the team and, as many are still Year 9. Hopefully they can bring home the trophy next year.
Congratulations girls on a great tournament and thanks very much to our coaches, Mrs Paodi, Vaiuku Tuipulotu-Katoa and Zahara Shah who have put a lot of work into upskilling the players so that they are able to compete at this level.
