Hanmer Camp

Ms A McIntosh —

We started and closed the camp with the most outstanding weather and very hot feet.

A motley crew of little cliques to begin with, the Year 10s concluded the camp as one supportive whanau. There were so many more highlights than lowlights, including one group demolishing the crate balancing record! This takes a whole team working as a strong unit, a fearless catcher balancing at the top and a tank of a crate thrower huffing the crates up about 8m with absolute precision.

The girls really pushed their comfort zones which they realised they could do when they had the support of their peers. And plenty of food! We had an amazing bunch of adults in the kitchen who pumped out the most beautiful kai to keep us fuelled. Camp is a bit of stamina event; we fill downtime with Bunkroom Olympics and this helps to build relationships and cuts out any time that any negativity could occur. We're extremely proud of the girls and the leadership of Di Roberts was second to none. We farewelled Mr Selbie and he told the girls it's the trips and experiences you'll miss when you leave. This camp is definitely one we'll remember warmly.
