Year 11 Business Class Market Day

Ms Jolene Herrick —

Come and Support the Students - 1st May, 1.30 pm

The Year 11 Business Class have been working on setting up and running their own business this term, with the penultimate event to showcase these businesses being the 11 Business Market Day held at lunch time on Monday 1st May (Week 2 Term 2).

We have 12 Student run businesses offering a selection of products, sweet and savoury food and drinks, Jewellery, Candles, Bath Bombs and Key Chains. It would be fabulous if our Waitaki Girls' High Whānau could come along during lunch time to support our young entrepreneurs (you will need to bring cash as we are unable to offer eftpos, small notes and coins would really help).

The Term began with students making a shark tank style pitch to get approval and funding for their product (thanks to STAR funding for making Market Day a reality for 11 Business). Students are now working through the process of marketing and producing their products to ensure they have a product to sell on May 1st, as well as building excitement in our community to ensure we have customers.Students will use the knowledge and experience gained from Market Day to achieve 19 Credits through submitting 4 NCEA Internal Assessments. Assessments will require that students reflect on how successful they were compared to the goals they set, how successfully they were able to market their product, decisions they made during production and the consequences of these decisions on their market day experience, and financial management. It is rewarding for both the students and I to bring the Business Curriculum to life, achieving success through practical experience. Being able to make a profit will also help improve their experience, and for that we need you. Please come along and support our Market Day on Monday 1st May from 1:15pm. We would love to see you
