Waitaki Girls' High School —

On 13 May we held the 2021 PTA AGM in the Whare Mātuaranga. Everyone enjoyed the drinks and nibbles.

The first part of the meeting was the AGM with no changes to the president, secretary or treasurer. These positions are held by myself, Lindy Mc Gregor and Hayley Holt respectively. We also welcomed three new members which is wonderful.

The main topic to discuss was the recent successful school gala held at the end of last term. For new families this is the main fundraiser for our school, held every two years. It was a beautiful night with plenty of stalls, fun activities, food, entertainment and fun. The theme was “The World at our Doorstep.” With the aim to celebrate the diversity and culture of our school. The highlight for me was getting a beautiful henna pattern on my arm and also the delicious food. Seeing everyone so happy - apart from a few people terrified after experiencing the Haunted House. It was a fabulous event which I was very proud to be a part of. We were delighted to make over $12,000. This of course was made possible by staff, students, parents and generous donations from local businesses.
