One of the year’s highlights for most Year 12 and Year 13 students was finally and thankfully held on Saturday the 8th of August. Our Rustic Country themed school Formal, jointly shared with Waitaki Boys’ High school, was a spectacular evening with our students wearing an array of beautiful dresses.
The evening commenced with the optional parade at Boys’ High before the doors opened at the Loan and Merc at 6.30. Here the students were welcomed by the principals of both schools before finding their seats at long tables adorned with circles of wood, fernery and candles as centerpieces.
The two course buffet, which lived up to its usual high standard, was served at 7.30pm and then dancing commenced.
Double Talk was a slick band that had most students dancing when they were not having their photos professionally taken by Gravity or lined up to enter the photo booth. This was the first Formal where, when the band announced the end of the evening, students begged for another last song.
We send a big thank you to the Social committee for organising such a successful Formal. I am sure most students had a wonderful time and will remember their 2020 Formal, despite it being delayed, with very fond memories.
