Cave Day

Mrs V Lilley, HOL Science —

Each year the Year 13 Biology class are challenged to survive a day in the Paleolithic.

In family groups they must de-bone a chicken wing using a stone tool, fashion a Acheulean hand axe from a potato, paint a piece of cave art using clay pigments and make a necklace for their leader to wear. They then create a bolas stone weapon, and must successfully hunt an antelope (retort stand) to see if the family get to eat.

This activity combines all of biological and cultural evolution that we learn about during the topic and helps to bring the topic to life. Well done team, you all survived your day in the Cave!
