Partial School Opening
Wednesday April 29th - Years 9 and 10
As you will be aware, schools are to partially open with the move to Level 3 on Wednesday 29 April. Our priority in the next few days is to ensure we are fully prepared for the lowering to Alert Level 3.
At Alert Level 3, all Year 11-13 students will continue to learn from home. All Year 9 and 10 students who can, need to continue to learn from home also.
For those Year 9 and 10 students who need to return to school, supervision will be provided while they too continue with their online learning-there will not be face-face teaching. I want to assure those families of students that do return, strict public health procedures will be in place to ensure these students stay in small bubbles, and follow safe hygiene practices, thus minimising the chances of COVID-19 transmission.
In order for us to be meticulous in our preparations, it is essential that, if your Year 9 or 10 daughter is returning to school on Wednesday 29th, you let us know by 3.00pm this Friday, April 24th.This then gives us time to set up rooms as well as organise supervision and processes in a way that meets Public Health requirements.
If you are a parent of a Year 9 or 10 student, please send an email to mwilliams@waitakigirlshigh.school.nz or phone 0274348429 to inform us whether your daughter needs to be at school from the 29th April. Please include in your email and phone call whether you will need buses to be running and if so, what is your pick up and drop off spot. At this stage we can’t guarantee that buses will run.
For those families that do indicate their daughter will be attending, details as to school start times, classrooms each student needs to go to, equipment they must bring and safe behaviour expectations, will be sent to those specific families prior to school opening.
Please note that any student who does attend, will be welcomed and looked after. If in your view, they need to be at school, we will not question this decision. Also note that if any student turns up next Wednesday without us being informed by this Friday at 3.00pm, they may be sent home.
On behalf of our school community, I wish to thank you all for your work, support and patience during this time and I look forward to seeing you all again in the future.
If you have any queries about the return to Level 3 or other issues, please do not hesitate to contact me mwilliams@waitakigirlshigh.school.nz
