WGHS Student Council —

We, the Student Council of Waitaki Girls' High have decided that as students we would like to have a short article in our school newsletter.

In this we will share our point of view on things that have been going on in the school.

This week was full of loads of different things, from our school open night, to quadrangular interschool and all the little things in between. Our open night was a great way to interact and connect with the students looking to come here next year and we loved showing future students what our school has to offer. On Thursday some of us travelled to Timaru for our annual quadrangular tournament with Christchurch Girls' High, Timaru Girls' High and Avonside Girls' High. We all loved this opportunity to play some sports and have some fun, especially since all of our interruptions last year with covid.

In the Student Council we bring up current issues or ideas that the students have brought to us (the student representatives for each year) and we discuss and plan some upcoming events. For example, last meeting we talked about the upcoming mufti day, which is fundraising for the student scholarship fund. This scholarship fund is currently available for any students who would benefit from some extra support in funding for any kind of school trip or activities.

If anyone would like to apply for this scholarship, please email Katie Kinnaird: kkinnaird@waitakigirlshigh.school.nz

This fund could go towards curricular activities, cultural, sports and even year 10 Hanmer Camp.

Thanks,

Katie, Iza and Anna
