Mufti Day Appeal

Laura Dunshea, Deputy Head Girl —

Waitaki Girls High School’s Student Council decided it would be a perfect time to have a mufti day to support those in the Oamaru community that have struggled throughout the unusual circumstances as a result of wage cuts and job losses due to covid-19.

It was an amazing turnout with the amount of cans, food and money that was donated from the girls which was greatly appreciated.  It was agreed that we would donate this all to the Oamaru Food Bank. On Monday, Emma Borrie and Laura Dunshea presented the donations to Rev Bernard Wilkinson, the manager of the Oamaru Food Bank and Rosemary Bentley, the chair woman of the Oamaru Food Bank. The response was very rewarding and to be able to help and support many, shows what a close community we have, which is awesome to be apart of.
