Year 12 Physics recently had the opportunity to put the formula Torque = Force x Distance into practice by safely changing a tyre and using ratchet tie-downs.

They learnt some practical tips on safely positioning the jack and themselves for more efficient and safe practice. They discovered that using longer levers increased the force applied to the nut without increasing effort. The girls had fun and built confidence in how to approach a real world (and sometimes stressful) situation.
